Farmers Insurance Open

So Luke just started his Sports MBA program at San Diego State University and since the program really wants its students to volunteer as much as possible, they got a chance to kick-start the year with a volunteer gig at the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines.

Luke got a chance to see a lot of great golfers (like Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson) and got to see a different side of golf that is completely different than one might experience by just watching it on TV.

Most of the time Luke was at (or around) the 18th hole on the south course. It was amazing to see the amount of effort and time it took to make this course look great and for everyone who came to have a good time. One of Luke's classmates filled him in on all the work the maintenance people have to do each day to make the course look perfect.

Luke's job was mostly to keep people quiet when golfers came around his station, but Luke also was able to interact with the people who came and try to answer as many questions as possible.

All in all it was a great experience and Luke came away with a cool jacket and a couple of hats. Luke's brother got to keep the quiet sign, which is probably going to make a regular appearance at parties and gatherings.
